Shake It Up - Made in Japan Part 2 Transcript

Rocky: (voiceover) Previously on "Shake it Up: Made in Japan"...

Recap

***

Mr. Watanabe: We are the only multi-media company in Japan that does not have a dance video game project.

Keiko: What about "Shake it Up!"?

Gary Wilde: And the winner of our "Shake it Up!" dance smackdown is...
"Shake it Up, Chicago!"!

The Chicago team, including Rocky and CeCe cheered, along with the audience.

Rocky: (angrily) I'm definitely afraid of flying.

Rocky: You're the hypnotist?

Shelly: Anytime CeCe strokes your arm and says "Get on board", you'll follow her lead.

Ty: I felt bad that he couldn't come, so I figured, this is the next best thing.

Henry: He's an android. His name is Andy...

Keiko: Welcome to Tokyo!

Flynn: This toilet actually talks.

Toilet: (female voice) Hello, young male American guest.

Mr. Watanabe: My grandchildren, Hideko and Ichiro.

Rocky: We're not gonna out-of-the-blue meet some music mogul who has the power to magically transform us into international superstars.

Hideko: He's not just successful in the video game industry. Watanabe Global is a multi-media empire.

Rocky: Suddenly I feel totes ridic.

Opening Credits

***

Tokyo Towers hotel, in Rocky and CeCe's hotel room.

CeCe: Itchy and Heidi are waiting. You'd think a private elevator would be faster.

Rocky: CeCe, it's not just for our suite, okay? There's a galaxy suite above us.

CeCe: So, it's reserved for aliens from other galaxies?

Rocky: Sure, CeCe, that's exactly what it's—

The elevator door opens to reveal Blue Man Group. CeCe and Rocky looked puzzled.

Rocky: ...for.

CeCe: I had to fly halfway across the world to be right, but it was so worth it.

Rocky and CeCe get in the elevator.

Performance.

Voice: Top, two, ready, go.

One of the members takes a clip from CeCe's hair.

In the performance, one of the members repeatedly presses an elevator button. The other taps on CeCe's hand and taps on the elevator railing. Music plays.

Elevator stops on a floor where a maid was by a cart with pillows. The third Blue Man Group member took out one of the pillows from the cart.

Elevator doors close.

The third member rips the pillow apart and feathers flew out everywhere. CeCe and Rocky were dancing along.

The elevator stops on another floor.

On that second floor, another maid has a vacuum. The third member, who is all covered up in feathers borrows the vacuum.

Performance ends.

***

The second member cleans off a feather from Rocky's shoulder.

The first member lends the clip back to CeCe.

CeCe and Rocky walk out of the elevator.

Ichiro: Hey, what took you guys so long?

Rocky: Oh, slow elevator.

Ichiro, Hideko, Rocky and CeCe walk out.

The third Blue Man Group member, still covered in feathers, glances at the view as the elevator doors close.

Performance venue.

Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen, Blue Man Group!

Deuce: (from tablet) Hey, I can't see!

Ty props the tablet on Gunther's shoulder.

Performance.

Two of the members were tapping on light up giant balls. The third was playing on pipes. Music plays.

CeCe: Hey, those are the guys from the elevator! See? I told you people in Japan can become stars overnight!

Music plays.

Song Voice: It is time now to create the ultimate dance party. To take things over the top, you'll need to start shaking your rear end.
Or as some people call it, your hind quarters, your backside. your buttocks, your hiney. Your keister, your tush.
Your buns, your gluteous tote bag, your bubble pop, your medicine ball, your sonic boom, your sick biscuit.
Your posterior, your subwoofer. your horn section, your monster truck.
Your magneous, your ripe's work.
The Outback, your cousin's apartment.
Ladies and gentlemen, please stand up and release the mounds.

The gang dances in the audience.

Singer: It's a sugar, sugar muffin

Song Voice: The place where all the burritos go.

Singer: It's a sugar, sugar, star full

Song Voice: Tweedledee and Tweedledum.

Singers: Dance to the beat where the the DJ comes, dance on with your hands

Robotic Song Voice: Butts.

Robotic Singer: Come on keep it going, to the party, don't stop. Let's keep it going, to the party, don't stop. Come on keep it going, to the party, don't stop.

Voices: Use your bum to stir that soup, then shake it all around like Blue Man Group

The members bang on cylindrical drums. The drums filled with water and lit up different colors. As they banged on the drums, water splashes out.

Song Voice: Your dance captain, under the thunder. Gigantor, the stabilizer. Shake your carry-on luggage, the Bobbsey Twins, your growing personal following.
Shake your boom wrecker, your quarter large, your briefcase, very large.
Shake the flounder that's rounder than a giant quarter-pounder.
Shake, shake. Shake, shake, shake, that thang.

Performance ends.

The gang and the whole audience cheers.

Tokyo Towers hotel bathroom.

After Flynn dries his hands, Andy walks in.

Andy: Flynn, your mother is looking for you.

Flynn: Oh, thanks.

Toilet: Who is this, tall, dark, and handsome droid?

Flynn: Uh, Toilet, meet Andy. Andy, meet Toilet.

Toilet: Pleased to meet you.

Andy: That flusher is all mine. And, might I say, your blue water really brings out the sparkle in your bowl.

Toilet: Oh, this old tank? You're going to make me flush.

(SFX: Toilet flushing)

Flynn: Mom! The toilet's in love with Andy!!

Flynn runs out.

***

Watanabe Studios.

Rocky, CeCe, Gunther, and Tinka are doing motion capture for the game. The song "Total Access" plays. The game switches to green screened clips of CeCe and Rocky.

Dance ends.

Keiko: Great job. We've got everything we need, I hope. So, on behalf of Watanabe Global, thank you, and enjoy the rest of your week in Tokyo.

Gary Wilde gets up from his seat. He takes off his jumpsuit to reveal a motion capture suit underneath. He goes to the stage.

Gary Wilde: Oh! My turn, my turn! Ah!

Mr. Watanabe enters the room to talk to Ichiro and Hideko.

Mr. Watanabe: We have discussed this. Keep quiet and learn!

Ichiro: But, G-Dad, if you listen, you'll be zowed by our swag-o-licious app!

Mr. Watanabe: I have no idea what you just said! Nor do I want to!

Hideko: We've created an app to help market your new dance video game to the youth of Japan.

Ichiro: It'll have Rocky and CeCe's avatars, and they'll dance to whatever music you play. People are gonna be all, "Konnichi-what-what?!". (crosses his arms in a cool fashion) It'll create buzz before the game comes out, G-Dad.

Mr. Watanabe: How many times do we have to tell you we have an entire marketing team? They deal with promotion. And don't call me G-Dad!

Hideko and Ichiro: (both bow) Yes, Grandfather.

Mr. Watanabe: (shouts) Sayonara!

Mr. Watanabe leaves.

Rocky and CeCe walk up to Ichiro and Hideko to talk to them.

Rocky: Hey, guys. Look, I'm sorry you got shut down. I thought your app was really cool.

Hideko tilts her head, approvingly.

CeCe: You know, you should really talk to him about this stuff when he's in a good mood. When exactly is your G-Dad in a G-mood?

Ichiro: He loves the karaoke club in Roppongi. Hey, he'll be there tonight.

CeCe: Listening to people sing, good to know.

Hideko: Yes. Maybe we should try to talk to him then.

Rocky: Or, why don't you just put the app online? Then when it's a big success, we'll have no choice but to be proud of you.

Ichiro: (points up and down at CeCe and Rocky) Great idea, playa. You in, H-Dog?

Hideko: Yes, I'm in, playa. (fist bumps Ichiro)

They both leave.

CeCe: Did you hear what they said?

Rocky: That they're gonna put the app online like I suggested?

CeCe: No, the important part. Mr. Watanabe's gonna be at the karaoke club tonight. We can go sing for him. He'll love us, I know it.

Rocky: Oh, CeCe, tonight, I was gonna go see a traditional Japanese dance performance at the Noh Theater.

CeCe: But, this could be our best chance to make this happen.

Rocky: CeCe, I'm gonna do what I wanna do, and you can't change my mind.

CeCe stares off into space.

Shelly: (in CeCe's thoughts) Trust me, it's fine.

CeCe: Yeah. I guess it is fine. (strokes Rocky's arm) Get on board, Rocky. Doesn't karaoke sound fun tonight?

Rocky: No, CeCe. the only place I'm going is... (pause, stares at CeCe) The only place I'm going is, uh...

CeCe stares convincingly.

CeCe: Karaoke?

Rocky: Yeah! Karaoke! We have to sing for Mr. Watanabe!

CeCe: Well, okay. Have it your way.

CeCe skips away.

***

At the "It's Karaoke Time" karaoke club.

Keiko: Whoa. What are you two doing here?

Rocky: We're here to sing for Mr. Watanabe and blow his socks off.

Keiko: Mr. Watanabe does not have his business socks on tonight. And the last thing he needs is two girls with dreams of pop stardom kissing his butt. Especially when one girl whose dreams of corporate stardom is already kissing his butt. If you'd like it, tough tofu. Sayonara.

Keiko leaves.

Rocky: The rope rolled off her kimono and died.

CeCe: Who cares? I'm gonna go ask that DJ if he'll let us go on next.

Rocky: CeCe, he's not gonna let you cut in front of everybody else.

CeCe: We'll see.

CeCe walks up to the DJ booth.

Rocky: And cue humiliating rejection in five, four, three, two...

CeCe gets on to the stage.

CeCe: Hi!

Rocky: ...one should never underestimate my best friend CeCe Jones.

CeCe: I'm CeCe-san, (points to Rocky) and that tall girl over there is my main samurai in crime, Rocky-chan.

Rocky waves sarcastically. She walks on to the stage.

Rocky: (clears throat) Um, um, um, what she means to say is, I'm Rocky and she's CeCe, and we're going to be singing "Same Heart", which is about two best friends. And if it weren't for my best friend, I probably wouldn't even be in Japan right now.

Rocky and CeCe hug each other.

CeCe: Aw. Bring it in.

Man from audience: Are you two gonna sing or what?

Performance.

Rocky and CeCe get up to the microphones. The song "The Same Heart" by Zendaya and Bella Thorne starts. Rocky and CeCe start singing.

Cut to Keiko and Mr. Watanabe looking at CeCe and Rocky singing.

Cut back to CeCe and Rocky singing.

Cut to Keiko and Mr. Watanabe.

Mr. Watanabe: Keiko, aren't they from our dance game?

Keiko: Oh, yes. Nobody 1 and Nobody 2.

Mr. Watanabe: There is something about them that I like. They have such spirit.

Keiko: (points) Oh, those girls! Yes, I love them.

Cut back to CeCe and Rocky singing. The audience dances along.

Performance ends.

The audience cheers.

Keiko and Mr. Watanabe walk up to the girls.

Rocky: Rocky, CeCe, girlfriends, besties.

Mr. Watanabe: I am very, very impressed with you girls. I see great potential. And I would like to work with both of you.

Rocky and CeCe gasp in awe.

Mr. Watanabe: Keiko, draw up a talent deal.

Keiko and Mr. Watanabe walk away.

CeCe: Did you hear that, Rocky? We are going to be...

CeCe and Rocky: (excitedly) Singing toothbrushes!

They dance with the microphones in excitement.

CeCe and Rocky: (singing excitedly) We're gonna be the new toothbrushes! We're the singing toothbrushes!

***

Tokyo Towers hotel lobby.

Georgia is sitting at the lobby, waiting for someone.

Cut to a bellhop motioning a man to the area where Georgia is sitting.

The man walks to that area. Georgia gets up from her chair, waiting for the man to hug her.

Georgia: Michi?! Oh!

The man passes Georgia and walks to a woman. They walk off.

A woman walks up to Georgia.

Georgia: Michi?

Michi: George?

Georgia tries to shake Michi's hand, only to find out that she bowed.

Georgia: Oh.

Georgia bows back.

Georgia: Actually it's Georgia. And I'm starting to believe that Michi is not Japanese for "Mitch".

Michi: I take it we both thought that we are going on a date.

Georgia and Michi laugh. They sit down on the chairs. Pause. They stare at each other in embarrassment.

Georgia: (shakes Michi's hand) Well, it was really great to meet you.

Michi: Yes, you too. And if there's anything you should ever need, just ask.

Georgia: Oh, right back at ya. (laughs) Well, see you soon, Mitch.

Michi: Yes, see you soon, George.

They both laugh and walk in opposite directions.

Georgia and Michi: Yeah, right.

***

At an elegant sushi restaurant.

CeCe, Rocky, Mr. Watanabe, Keiko, Gary Wilde, Georgia, Ichiro, and Hideko are having dinner.

Keiko: Congratulations to the newest members of the Watanabe family.

Keiko and Mr. Watanabe clap. CeCe and Rocky are looking at contract papers.

CeCe: We will not let you down, Mr. Watanabe.

Rocky: We promise we'll work really hard.

Mr. Watanabe: Good. But now we don't talk about business. We enjoy our meal.

Georgia gets up from her chair.

Georgia: Uh, excuse me. I need to run to the little geishas' room.

Georgia leaves.

Gary Wilde: Just to clarify, you are paying for dinner? We're not going splitsies.

They all get confused.

Rocky: You know what would be really awesome right now? Something else we could celebrate. Right, Hideko?

Hideko: Okay, Grandfather. Ichiro and I have great news about the app. It's already got thousands of downloads.

Mr. Watanabe: I don't want to hear about that nonsense.

Hideko puts Ichiro's hands down.

Mr. Watanabe: (looks at the menu) The only apps I'm interested in right now are these dumplings.

Rocky: But, Mr. Watanabe. They are really talented. You should take a look at what they came up with. It's awesome.

Ichiro puts his hands out. Hideko gives him a weird stare.

CeCe: He said he wasn't interested, Rocky.

Rocky: But, the app is perfect to promote the new video game. And, it features two of the newest members of the family.

Mr. Watanabe: My grandchildren should be concentrating on their studies. And if they were to learn about my business, they should quietly observe and not waste time with their silly pursuits.

Ichiro and Hideko both bow.

Rocky: Oh. You don't understand. It's not silly.

Mr. Watanabe: Excuse me?! Ha. I understood enough to build a international multi-media empire.

Rocky: Oh, no, no, no, no, you're confused. You see, what I meant was, they know the youth market because they're young, and you're...

Mr. Watanabe: Old?! I'm old and confused?!

CeCe: Change the subject, Rocky. Get on board.

CeCe tries to stroke Rocky's arm, but Mr. Watanabe stops her. She tries to laugh it off.

Rocky: No, no, no, no, no, no. You're not old, you're just a little... stuck in your ways.

Mr. Watanabe slams his utensils on the table.

CeCe: Rocky, get on board! You're gonna ruin everything!

CeCe tries to stroke Rocky's arm by walking up to her, but Mr. Watanabe stops her after her arm touched his shoulder. She cleans his shoulder off.

Rocky: CeCe, I don't care. He's wrong. He should at least look at what they came up with. He's being completely unreasonable.

Mr. Watanabe: (angrily) That's it! I have heard enough.

CeCe: No, please, Mr. Watanabe. This is just a big misunderstanding. Rocky didn't mean to offend you, she was just trying to express herself.

Mr. Watanabe: Why, thank you, CeCe.

CeCe giggles.

Mr. Watanabe: I see everything clearly now.

CeCe and Rocky laugh sarcastically.

Mr. Watanabe snatches the papers from CeCe and Rocky.

Mr. Watanabe rips the contract papers in half.

Mr. Watanabe: I will not work with either of you. And the "Shake it Up!" dance video game project is cancelled.

Keiko: But that is my project.

Mr. Watanabe: Good point. You're fired, too. Hideko, Ichiro, (shouts in Japanese).

Mr. Watanabe, Hideko, and Ichiro leave.

Gary Wilde: Mr. Watanabe, wait!

Gary Wilde tries to catch up to Mr. Watanabe and his grandchildren.

Georgia enters.

Georgia: Oh, sorry that took so long. I was having a conversation with the talking toilet. Turns out it was the lady in the stall next to me. So, what'd I miss?

Gary Wilde re-enters.

Gary Wilde: Okay, I've changed his mind. He's going to continue with the "Shake it Up!" video game.

Rocky: (sigh of relief) Oh, thank goodness.

Gary Wilde: Unfortunately you won't be in it. His one condition was that I fire you from "Shake it Up, Chicago!"

Rocky: What?

CeCe: No!

Gary Wilde: I'm sorry, girls. I don't have a choice.

CeCe: This is a nightmare.

Rocky: Could this possibly get any worse?

***

Tokyo Towers hotel room. Mr. Itou and Georgia enter.

Mr. Itou: Everyone gather!

CeCe, Rocky, Ty, Flynn, and Henry gathered by the stairs.

Mr. Itou: I have an important message from Mr. Watanabe.

Rocky: He changed his mind?

Mr. Watanabe: No, that's not it.

CeCe: We're not fired?

Mr. Itou: Oh, yes, that's it! Wait, no, it's not. Pack your things, you're being kicked out.

Flynn: Does that mean that you're not going to be our dedicated full-time concierge anymore?

Mr. Itou: Oh, who are you kidding? I was your butler.

Georgia: So, I'm guessing our private jet is...

Mr. Itou: Grounded. You need to find your own way home. Sayonara.

Mr. Itou leaves.

***

Tokyo Towers hotel room.

CeCe, Rocky, Ty, Flynn, Georgia, Henry, and Andy pack up. Andy walks off, while Ty talks to Deuce on his tablet.

Andy: "Toi-Toi"! My "Toi-Toi"!
[NOTE: "Toi-Toi" is the name Andy gives to the talking toilet.]

Flynn: Oh, get over it!

Deuce: We're homeless in Japan! We're homeless in Japan!

Ty: (shakes tablet) Pull yourself together, man!

Rocky: This is a disaster. First we're kicked off "Shake it Up, Chicago!", now we have nowhere to stay.

CeCe: Yeah. I'm starting to wish "Shake it Up, Miami!" would've won that dance battle.

Georgia: Don't worry. I'll figure it out. and as far as where to stay, I think I have an idea.

***

Michi's house.

Michi: Georgia?

Georgia: Michi, hi! Hey, remember when you said if there was anything I ever needed? Well, I need a place to stay, but I promise, it's just for one night.

Michi: Yeah, technically, I was just following Japanese custom and being polite. I didn't really mean it.

Georgia: Oh, that's okay! I didn't really mean it when I said that it would just be for one night.

Michi groans.

Georgia: Come on, kids. Come on, let's go. Keep it moving.

Georgia calls on Rocky, CeCe, Ty, Flynn, Henry, and Andy to come in the house.

***

Watanabe Global building.

CeCe and Rocky wait in the lobby.

Rocky: CeCe, do you honestly think that Mr. Watanabe is gonna talk to us after what happened last night?

CeCe: Well, we have to try to change his mind. I mean, even if he doesn't want to make us pop stars, he at least could let us back on "Shake it Up, Chicago!".

Rocky: I know, but listen. Even if he doesn't, it's all right. It won't be the end of the world.

CeCe: It'd be the end of my world. I'm not you, Rocky. I'm not some genius who can be anything I want to if I set my mind to it! I'm a dancer! That is all I have!

Rocky: Don't sell yourself short, alright. You can be a lot of things. (pause) Okay, a few things. (pause, glances at CeCe) Okay, when we get back home, we're scheduling you an appointment with the guidance counselor.

CeCe: I'm just gonna go talk to him alone.

CeCe leaves and puts her bag down on the chair. Rocky sits on the chair. A phone rings from CeCe's bag. She takes the phone out of the bag and answers it.

Rocky: Hey, CeCe's phone.

Cut to the psychiatrist's office. Shelly answers the phone.

Shelly: Hello? CeCe Jones? This is Shelly Goldfeder.

Cut to the Watanabe lobby.

Rocky: No, no, no. I said CeCe's phone.

Cut to the psychiatrist's office.

Shelly: That's what I said. CeCe Jones. This is a very expensive call to you, so stop saying your name I'm just checking to see how Rocky handled her fear of flying.

Cut to the Watanabe lobby.

Rocky: Oh, I'm good. I mean, she's good.

Shelly: (from phone) And how about that "having fun" thing?

Rocky: W-what are you talking about?

Cut to the psychiatrist's office. Shelly answers the phone.

Shelly: Oh, you know, the hypnotic suggestion I gave her. You stroke her arm, say "get on board".

Cut to the Watanabe lobby.

Rocky: "Get on board"?

Cut to the psychiatrist's office. Shelly answers the phone.

Shelly: Yeah. Is she going along with whatever you want when you do that?

Cut to the Watanabe lobby.

Rocky: Not anymore, she's not.

Rocky hangs up the phone. CeCe re-enters the lobby.

CeCe: Mr. Watanabe refused to see me! Have you ever been so upset you just don't even know what to say?

Rocky: Yeah. I think I can relate.

CeCe stares at Rocky.

Rocky: CeCe, we need to have a very serious discussion.

CeCe: Rocky, I'm really not in the mood for one of your "it's never going to happen" lectures. Because, the more I think about it, it's kind of funny how the person who kept saying "it's never going to happen" somehow found a way to make sure that it didn't happen.

CeCe walks off. Rocky catches up to her.

Rocky: What?

They stop.

CeCe: We were this close, Rocky. This close. But no, you had to go and insult Mr. Watanabe because you always have to be right. And this time, it cost us everything!

Rocky: Oh, really? So it's all my fault? If only I would've been able to "get on board".

CeCe glances at Rocky weird.

CeCe: Excuse me?

Rocky: You heard me. Don't you want me to, (strokes CeCe's arm) get on board?

CeCe: (mumbles) I have no idea what you are talking about.

Rocky: Oh, really? Shelly called.

CeCe: Hmm. Don't think I know a Shelly.

Rocky: Hmm, 'cause you were in the room with her while she hypnotized me.

CeCe: Oh. That Shelly.

Rocky: I cannot believe you. You are so selfish and manipulative that you won't even let me have my own thoughts anymore.

CeCe: Okay, I crossed a line. But it was her idea and I only used it one time. I could've done it way more than that!

Rocky: Really? That's your excuse that you only messed with my mind one time?!

CeCe: Okay, fine, I admit it. I was wrong. But I did it for us. I did it for our dream!

Rocky: Our dream? Don't you mean, your dream? (takes out the memory book from her bag) Let's just take a look at this memory book. (flips through pages) A napkin from the karaoke club. (flips through pages) A picture of you at the rehearsal studio. (flips through pages) A receipt for your "signing a talent deal" dress! This was supposed to be my book! And there is nothing in here that is important to me!

CeCe: Well, what about what's important to us? We're supposed to be partners! And a partner is supposed to push you to do your best, not constantly tell you that you're wasting your time!

Rocky: Well, maybe we just shouldn't be partners!

CeCe: Oh, so we're gonna fight and, you're what? You're just gonna quit dancing?

Rocky: No. I'm gonna keep dancing. I just won't be doing it with you anymore.

CeCe: (voice breaks) What are you talking about?

Rocky: Let me just put this in a way that you might understand. (puts bag on her shoulder) I've become a supporting character in "The CeCe Show" instead of starring in "The Rocky Show", and I'm done.

Rocky walks out.

A businessman with a ponytail enters the lobby, dancing. He shows CeCe the "Shake it Up!" dance app.

Businessman: Hey, it's you. You're dancing on my phone right now. So where is your dancing friend?

CeCe: (saddened) Yeah. I don't think she's my friend anymore.

CeCe walks out.

***

CeCe: (voiceover) Next on "Shake it Up: Made in Japan"...

Summary:

***

Mr. WatanabeI have given you a second chance. You two will perform. 5,000 people will be in attendance.

Michi: (frustrated) Georgia. One of your kids broke my computer. It's completely frozen, and it happened right after I downloaded that stupid dancing app!

Ty: Rocky and CeCe gave us a virus.

Ichiro: The whole world could catch the Rocky and CeCe Virus!

Mr. Watanabe: You are not performing.

CeCe: What?

Mr. Watanabe: You are too closely associated with the virus. You are the number one most hated girls in Japan.
